The End of the Year
We have made it to the end of the year and winter break. Enjoy the time off as there will be no packets sent home. If you want to continue working with your scholar you can do IXL and the county has provided work on their website. Upon our return we will spend the first couple of days reviewing what we have learned in ELA and reviewing subtraction basics in math. We will also be reviewing school and classroom procedures. Have a wonderful break!

We had a great week in second grade! When we get back from break, we will be continuing our reading unit on Creative Ideas. The question of the week will be, "When does a creative idea lead to a surprise?" Throughout the week, we will focus on sequencing, as well as predicting and setting purpose. The spelling pattern for List A next week will be vowel patterns, i, ie, igh, and y. In math, we will continue to work on topic 5. This topic covers subtracting within 100 using strategies. As a reminder, it is recommended that students practice their basic addition and subtraction facts with flashcards regularly at home. Please continue to send your child to school in the correct school uniform. The only day children do not have to wear all black shoes is his/her PE day. As always, if you have any questions, please contact your child's teacher via ClassDojo. We hope every has a wonderful break and we will see everyone in 2020!!

From Our Family to Yours!
In RELA this week, students read Eye of the Storm and explored cause and effect relationships. We worked on Singular, Possessive Nouns for grammar. When we return from break, students will learn about the History of New Year's Eve and New Year's Resolutions. They will also reflect on the school year thus far and create goals for the remainder of the year. In Science this week, we have completed our STEM fair projects. Students got the chance to present their projects. They also got the chance to see all of the STEM fair projects in our gallery walk. We are so impressed with all of their wonderful hard work! We can’t wait to have everyone participate in the STEM fair on Saturday, January 4th! For math, we have wrapped up our unit on Multiplication and after break will be starting Topic 5: Division! Please remind students to practice their Math Facts for especially their 6,7,9, and 12 places. *****All fourth grade Extra Credit Winter Break Packets will be assigned in Google Classroom only. These will be submitted digitally only. Paper packets will not be accepted. Last day for Extra Credit Submission is 1/1/20.***** Have a safe and happy Winter Break from our family to yours!

Spanish Hello parents, We have been learning about so many topics until now. We started with different greetings at different times of the day. We continued with the different members of the family. We have learned about different types of clothing. We have studied different types of place adverbs in Spanish and now we are learning body parts from head to toe. Feliz Navidad! Ecology In Ecology students worked on team building skills. Thank you for the lovely gifts. Have a happy holiday! Music Congrats to all Tiger Musicians on an AMAZING Winter Music Assembly! Your teachers are so proud of your beautiful singing. We spent the week watching videos of our performances and discussing how we did "on stage" and how we can better prepare for our next concert. Students in grades 3-5 will begin playing recorders at the end of January. I've seen kazoos on Amazon, at the dollar store, and at Walmart. Some are as cheap as $1, but most are between $5-$10. Please dojo message me or email me if you think this won't work for your family financially - there will be room in the music budget to purchase some scholars their recorders. If you can DONATE an extra recorder or two, please send it with your scholar for me to give to a student in need - thank you in advance for your support! Tech CMIT Elementary students joined the global movement, learning more about computer science programs and engaging in coding activities. For all Coding activities please check this website; https://hourofcode.com/us/learn Lego/Robotics I am happy to announce that our CMIT Tiger Architects team will participate in FLL Robotics Competition this year. FLL competition will take place on Jan 25, 2020, at PGCC. Have a great winter break. Phys. Ed. Students all finished up their weight transfers/rolls before break and after break students will be working on cooperative games/activities, nutrition, and dance activities from different cultures. Also 3rd - 5th graders who have not completed their HW #1 or #2 on google classroom need to do so ASAP or a zero will be counted for the grade. From the creative arts team; have a great break and and see you in 2020!!!
