FYI
MESA Club is going to the State Competition!
Our CMIT scholars participated in the Regional Mesa competition. They took home the first place Storybook Theme park ride. First place wearable technology. Second place basswood bridge. Second place scratch. These scholars did a great job. Our school will move to the state competition for Storybook and wearable technology. Go Tigers! The state Competition will be May 18th. We will meet at the school at 7:00am. All club members may meet us at the John Hopkins Applied Physics laboratory. Parents must stay with their child. All members in wearable technology and storybook theme park should ride the bus. Parents of those students may meet us at the event. We should arrive back at school by 2:45pm. Thank You for Your dedication to excellence!

May 20-24th, 2019
We are still in the throws of testing for kindergarten, finishing up both DRA and MAP testing this week. Please make sure that your scholar is well rested and has a good breakfast. Also, help us by reminding your scholars that they should take their time and do their best on the assessments. This week has a couple special days. Monday, we are having our muffins with Mom's day which will include garden planting and our annual butterfly release. Thursday is field day and we expect to have a lot of fun. Due to testing and special events, there will be no homework. Please continue to read 20 min a day and working on IXL.

Can You Actually Improve Your Child's Executive Function?
..."An emotionally unpredictable parent actually poses a threat to a child. Here's how it works: Your child's brain, just like yours, is hard-wired to zone in on threat (real or perceived). In the presence of threat, the brain prepares to do one of three things: Fight, Flee or Freeze. The ability to problem solve and learn is shut down. When this happens, the emotional brain is in charge (what Dan Seigel refers to as a “flipped lid”). No learning or problem solving can occur when lids are flipped. Don't even try – you will make it worse. Wait for calm..." READ MORE HERE! :) https://impactadhd.com/manage-emotions-and-impulses/can-you-actually-improve-your-childs-executive-function/
