There will be (3) 2 week sessions, that begin July 8th-19th, July 22nd -Aug.2nd, Aug.5th- Aug. 16th offered that involves fun-filled, engaging researched-based activities that will also include a weekly field trip. You will be able to enroll in all sessions if needed. If there is enough interest we will also offer after school enrichment from 3-6.
The CMIT Elementary certified teachers will be the instructors for the program. Your scholars will be responsible for bringing lunch daily. The subjects taught will be Language Arts, Math, Science, and we will have enriching activities daily; such as organized play, STEM activities, brain builder games, just to name a few.

Testing Time!!
|
On Monday, May 6, students will have a PARCC Pep Rally. Scholars will have the opportunity to enjoy the Bounce House along with other fun activities. Please sign the waiver that was sent in Class Story . Third grade scholars should also wear yellow, as this is our class color.
Also, please let this serve as a gentle reminder that PARCC testing begins on Tuesday, May 7 and will end on May 17. Please ensure that your scholar bring in headphones, and that they arrive to school on time, well rested, and well nourished during testing. Third grade will test at 8:15 am each day. Encourage your scholar to do their best and please remind them that this is not a graded test. This test will measure their academic progress. Thank you for your continued support!

4th Grade Updates
|
We enjoyed our field trip last week to the Supplee Recreational area and learned all about our watershed! Thank you to parent volunteers who chaperoned.
MCAP (new PARCC test) will begin next Tuesday, 5/7 and will end on 5/15! It is imperative that students arrive on time for school on these days! Students who are late may not be able to test that day and will be required to test on make up days. Please ensure that your student gets a good night's sleep and eats a healthy breakfast before arriving to school. Students who are eating school breakfast need to arrive no later than 7:45 am to ensure that they get their breakfast. Students also need to bring headphones for testing, so please send those in no later than Monday if you have not already.
While we are not assigning any homework during the testing weeks, students should still be prepared for in class instruction. We encourage students to bring a snack each day that they may eat after testing is over for the day.

5th Grade News

Hello parents !
It’s MCAP next week! We made it hurray! All next week will be testing. Good luck to our kiddos, they can do it !
A math MCAP packet study guide with an overview of 5th grade math concepts covered this year will be sent home. Please be on the look out for this. It is not extra credit nor homework, merely a support tool to assist our students. There is a line drawn in the middle of the pages so you and your kiddo can fold the paper in half and help him or her study these concepts. It’s most effective if you sit down with them for at least 10 to 15 minutes a day and brush up on these concepts. On the last page there some key words they can look for that we have discussed in class for word problems and some tips for testing, for both students and parents.
Students will have no homework in ELA or Math this week.
Lastly, there will be no tutor after school next week.
Please make sure your student gets a well balance, brain nutrient breakfast and a full nights rest (8 to 9 hours of sleep)
Happy MCAP week ! Good luck to them all !
REMINDERS/UPDATES:
May 6: Wear your grade level color (Purple)
May 7-13: MCAP Testing
May 27- NO SCHOOL
May 30-31: Camp Schmidt

Impact ADHD
|
Here is a wonderful resource, packed FULL of short/quick read articles with steps and strategies that can be implemented immediately in support of our children (and families) with ADHD:
https://co.ontraport.com/e/RE2/jbsJ/rOV/zPhacqYebq
I especially appreciate the brief nature of the articles, with their easy to understand tone, and the alternative perspectives they offer.
We often (to no fault of our own) get stuck behind the typical lens we see the world through, and this resource helps to alter that thinking without any sense of shame or guilt for the unknown...
Explore it and let me know what you think!
Graciously,
Your School Counselor

Its FREE!
|
I am so excited for this series, I am counting down the days to May 7!
It is so rare to find such an amazing group of individuals sharing their expertise and advice...
FREE OF CHARGE!
Usually, there is travel involved and a hefty price tag to have access to such knowledge.
I hope you will take advantage of this amazing opportunity with me!
Send me an email if you register, and we can have a post-conference coffee chat about it!
I am already invigorated by the dialogues I know will follow :) (writchie@cmitelementary.org)
