Growing and Learning!
Third grade students are continuing to learn and grow. In order to assist your scholar, we ask that you check their homework folders daily for graded work and any notices. When scholars have completed the night's homework, they should place it back into their folder. We also suggest that scholars pack their backpacks and place it next to the door. Your scholar will be a successful third grader if they are encouraged to be independent and organized. Next week: In Math, scholars will round numbers to the nearest tens and hundreds place. Please practice place value with your scholar. Multiplication facts should be practiced each day. In Science, scholars are continuing to explore weather, temperature, climate, and natural disasters. Special Education Trivia!!
According to research published by the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA), this disorder has nearly doubled over the last generation to include more than 10 percent of U.S. children. Between 1997-1998 and 2015-2016, the prevalence of this diagnosis increased across age, gender, race/ethnicity, income and geography, but is notably twice as high in girls and Hispanic children and has more than doubled for Black children. What is the disorder? Think you know? Email your answers to smcveigh@cmitelementary.org

News from Mr. Nenner This October in Music, we will be working on our school song! All grades will contribute an element to its creation, each adding a unique flavor to the music. We will incorporate music technology to then capture a recording of our song, for all to hear! Also in October, we will be starting Chorus, which will be offered as an after-school club. More details coming soon... News from Mrs. Fernandez Hola!! This last weeks we have been practicing greetings and farewells in Spanish. We have practiced some conversations about different family members and we have learned the days of the week. Gradually I'll be sending some homework through class dojo. Hasta luego! News from Mr. Hamms Students complete their written pre-assessments for the county last week and this week and next we will be focusing our PE minds and bodies on loco-motor movements (speeds, directions, levels, and pathways). Students will be moving a lot over the next two week, so PLEASE have them wear sneakers to PE and if they do not have black sneakers, have them pack other sneakers to bring and change into at PE. I am also running a few clubs this year; Athletics Club (open to 3-5) was formally basketball club and Beyblades club (open to 3-5). Athletics club will participate in flag football, soccer, basketball, & racquet sports. Beyblades club will use beyblades scoring to work on math (addition, averages, sum, etc..), students in the club also need their own beyblades to participate.
