First Grade News
Next week for reading we will be looking at different versions of the story Cinderella. Students will be comparing and contrasting the different versions using a Venn Diagram. Students will need to be able to tell what are the story elements and the genre of the story ie. fantasy. Students will also be focusing on suffixes. Students will learn this skill and what the meaning of the suffixes mean. For math, students will be working on second grade concepts. We do not go deep into this concept but we are introducing the skills so that they are familiar with them for next year. Concepts consist of even and odd numbers and arrays. Reminders**** June 11- Family Tree Project Due (No late projects accepted) June 19- 2 hour early dismissal June 20- Last day of school for students (2 hour early dismissal)

Spring is in the Air!
We would like to thank the Moms who were able to participate in our Mission Moms Day. We appreciate the time you spent sharing your journeys and we especially appreciated your words of wisdom! We would also like to thank all the parents that were able to chaperone on our field trip to Annapolis. The students had a great time learning about Maryland history. Parents we are asking that your scholar come to school in the proper uniform. They are to wear continuous black shoes with their uniforms and their socks should be black or white and free of designs. They are allowed to wear any color shoe when they are wearing their full P.E. uniform. Thank you for your support in this matter. In the upcoming week, scholars will continue with their novel study of "Sarah Plain and Tall" in Language Arts, and they will understand different cultures in Social Studies. In Math, scholars are reviewing skills learned and in Science they will understand how fossils are made. School will be closed on Monday, May 28, for Memorial Day, have a safe and wonderful weekend!
