Advanced Studies Certificate Program

YOU ASKED & CLF DELIVERS! THESE CERTIFICATE PROGRAMS ARE EXCLUSIVE TO OUR CLF SCHOOLS' STUDENTS!
The Chesapeake Lighthouse Foundation (CLF) will offer a variety of programs aimed at helping students further develop social skills while improving academic performance. The following exclusive courses made available ONLY to CLF schools’ students. Students will take an assessment test and upon completion, satisfied students will receive a certificate from CLF.
Spring semester classes will start on Saturday, April 7th. All courses 8 week-long and total cost per class is $200.

CLF's Summer Day Camp!
|
Summer is approaching. If you are searching for a program for your child consistent with educational, informal and entertaining activities, then CLF Summer DAY CAMP Program is the right solution for you! CLF will provide a variety of programs available to all Elementary and Middle school students during June 25th-July 20th. These programs include Basketball Academy by BBA, STEAM Classes (Robotics/Lego, Interactive Science, Computer Programming), Recess, and Lunch. This is a great opportunity for students to be engaged and gain skills over the summer. Summer DAY CAMP program is only available for Elementary and Middle school students and will be held at LAUREL and UPPER MARLBORO locations. Cherrydale Farms Chocolate Bar Fundraiser!

Please turn in all money to Mrs. Mccain’Wigfall by March 23rd. Parents may continue to support our fundraising efforts online. https://www.cherrydale.com/landingpage/landingpage/organization/code/45230-CBCMILM_2018sWe will use the proceeds for several things including creating a Maker-space, and supporting the fifth grade promotion ceremony. For reading, we will focus on the story Hooway for Wodney Wat. Students will focus on visualizing and retelling the story from beginning to end.
For math, we will focus mainly on 3D shapes. Students will need to identify the faces and vertices of different 3D shapes.
For science, we will be learning about shooting stars.
In Social Studies, we will be working on oceans and continents.

Second grade students practiced kindness for Walk Up Wednesday! We were proud of them.
We are working on Women's History Month and studying famous women in history. Students will bring home an interview project due on Friday, March 23rd. They will interview an adult woman and find out "her"story.
Things we are learning: Reading: Reading Street Unit 5, Week 2: Carl the Complainer Writing: Writing Process for the Book Publishing Project Math: Topic 9: Three digit Place Value strategies Science: Chapter 1: Matter and its Properties- design process Social Studies: Chapter 3: Geography (Natural Resources)

The Celebration Continues...
|
In the upcoming weeks, scholars will continue to review and prepare for our PARCC test. Please remind your scholars to read each evening, practice their multiplication/division facts, and to stay focused and motivated. We will also have PARCC Fridays until scholars take the assessment in May. Scholars are allowed to wear the PARCC t-shirt that they made in Art. Week of March 19: March 20 First Day of Spring! ELA: Scholars will continue reading Lowji Discovers America and analyze character traits. SS: Scholars are learning about the many landforms and regions of the U.S. Math: Scholars are reviewing skills learned. Science: Scholars will continue to examine the life cycle of plants.
Classrooms are in need of disinfecting wipes, kleenex, and pencils. Please check/refill your scholars lunch account.
