Principal's Message
|
Dear CMIT Elementary Parents,
During the first few weeks of school, our staff took the time to explicitly teach rules and expectations for classrooms as well as other locations throughout the school. It is already evident that it helped to increase ready -to-learn environment in our school.
Please ensure you will provide updated contact information. We are working on updating SchoolMax and blackboard database to ensure we will be able to reach all of our families with the necessary information. After updating database we will be able to send text and voice messages to communicate with our families. To start this practice soon as possible please help us to have your current phone and email addresses soon as possible.
Thanks to all CMIT Elementary parents who were able to attend back to school night event on Thursday, September 14, 2017. It was a great success! I heard a lot of wonderful comments from our families that I shared with my team members. Please remember you are always welcome to visit me or email me to share your concerns, suggestions, or ideas. We will work together to make our school is a best elementary school in the state of Maryland.
I would like to say special thank you to all of you for your great comments about the improvements. I believe with your support we will have a great academic year here, at CMIT Elementary school.
As everybody agrees on that, transportation and traffic are our biggest challenges. Thank you for our volunteer parents who are helping us during drop-off and pick-up times. It is always wonderful having more adult around us to ensure everything is safe for our students. We still need more volunteers during morning hours.
Please be careful during the drop-off and pick-up times, be mindful that we have elementary school age all around us. Their safety is our priority!
Also, I would like to remind you that we are a role model for them. We should remember it is a school property that means ‘smoke-free zone’.
Thank you for your support to improve our school practices.

Mrs. Whitney Green
Mrs. Green begins her 3rd year as the Professional School Counselor at CMIT Elementary School. Before joining CMIT, Mrs. Green was the founding counselor in another public charter school in PGCPS, making this her 7th year serving the county in this capacity. She earned her undergraduate degree in Sociology from Washington College, in Chestertown Maryland, and her Masters in Education K-12 School Counseling from Loyola University, in Baltimore Maryland.
Mrs. Green is originally from New Jersey, where she still associates her roots and ventures back there when she is able. She loves the shore, her poodle, quality time, coffee, imaginations, shoes, partnerships and empathy. She dislikes the word “can’t”, assumptions, and lack of accountability. When asked if she always knew she wanted to be a counselor, Mrs. Green assures inquirers that she did not purposefully pick this job, but rather this life was meant for her! She is currently a student herself again, as she loves to deepen her knowledge base and continue grow in her profession. She is thrilled to be back and with her CMIT Tigers!

Meet Mrs. Diana
|
Mrs. Diana Dumbadze, our CMIT Librarian & Student Support Specialist
Mrs. Dumbadze is excited to be beginning her first year with CMIT Elementary as the new school librarian! This role is perfect for her as she is already a published scholar and loves research & reading! Before coming to CMIT, Mrs. Diana worked with children in Germany and also in her home country of Georgia (nope, not the state!) She is multi-lingual, speaking and writing in five different languages. In fact, she graduated at the top of her class at the prestigious Tbilisi State University (the first/oldest in her native country).
As a student support specialist, “Mrs. Diana” (as she prefers to be called) has already started remodeling the books, furniture, and decorations of the ever-evolving LIBRARY & MEDIA CENTER! She is excited to make the school library & media center a happy, safe, and learning rich environment for children to enjoy, grow, and fall in love with reading while honing the necessary skills for the future. She believes new and used books all have a place in the great libraries of the world and asks that everyone encourage each other to always remember to care for our library materials. This includes returning your books and cleaning up after yourself since everyone shares at CMIT and our library is a STEMazing place to learn, share, and enjoy. Mrs. Diana especially encourages parents to read with their children at the library.
For parent volunteers interested in helping out, Mrs. Diana would love to have you. Please let her know. She has so many fun ideas for this 2017-2018 and is open to your suggestions! For example, she is planning special events including: author visits, book fairs, book clubs, book reading contests & rewards including a “reading wall of fame,” storytelling sessions, seasonal decorations, and more ideas to look forward to as the year progresses. Her email is: DDumbadze@cmitelementary.org.

I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Studies and a Master’s in Business Administration from Strayer University. Although, my career did not start in the educational spectrum.
